Bodie State Historic Park is part of the California State Parks System. With the State of California's budget crisis (for the past several years), State Parks have lost annual funding for many years in a row. Bodie has not been spared. These continued decreases in funding for Bodie by the State has led to fewer and fewer park aides and lack of interpretation for visitors.
The State Parks System has programs in place to work directly with non-profit organizations that are focused on helping specific parks with some of their needs. Bodie State Historic Park's non-profit work is led by The Bodie Foundation.
Your support of The Bodie Foundation directly benefits Bodie State Historic Park*. The Foundation operates the Museum Store at the Park and online and coordinates fundraising projects while working hand-in-hand with California State Parks employees and Park Rangers. Monetary donations are the most helpful, as they can be used in the area of greatest need, but physical items may also be useful. Snow vehicles, period clothing, new computers, digital cameras and other items may be of use to Park staff - please contact The Bodie Foundation to coordinate your donations.
*Your donations to The Bodie Foundation may be used for Bodie SHP, Mono Lake Tufa State Reserve or Grover Hot Springs State Park, unless you specifically note which park you wish to support.
