August	-	The first quartz ledge was located, the claim being named the Montauk, later to be known as the Goodshaw. This location was directly above the place where Bodey had discovered the placer ground.
November 20	-	W. S. Bodey and partner "Little Black" Taylor caught in severe snowstorm, Bodey perishes just months after his gold discovery, 1859

1860
July 10	-	First claims were recorded in Mono District. Miners of "Bodey Diggings" met and organized the Bodey Mining District, 1860.

July 1	-	The Standard mine located (originally called the "Bunker Hill Mine".)

1862
October 15	-	First appearance of the spelling "Bodie".

1864
July 6	-	Empire Mining Co. of New York formed 1864, collapsed by 1868 - Leland Stanford is among its board members
August 1	-	Wilson Butler, Bodie's first resident blacksmith, arrives in town, 1864

1867
December 8	-	Marietta Butler & Roger Horner married in Bodie, 1867 - parents of the first recorded birth in Bodie

1869
April 3	-	First child born in Bodie - Daniel Horner, 1869.

1874
March 1	-	Accidental cave-in at the Bunker Hill Mine reveals the first rich vein of ore, 1874.

1877
January 1	-	First Post Office opens inside Silas Smith's store.
April 18	-	The Standard Mining Company (owner of the Standard Mine, previously the Bunker Hill Mine) is incorporated, 1877.
May 1	-	Silas Smith opens hi first store in Bodie, 1877
July 10	-	The Standard Mill begins production, 1877
September 2	-	First organized volunteer fire bucket brigade formed, 1877
October 10	-	The first newspaper, "The Standard Pioneer Journal of Mono County," was published, by Frank Kanyon, Editor.
October 10	-	The Standard Journal newspaper moved to Bodie from Aurora by Frank Kenyon, 1877
December 1	-	First non-stop passenger trip from Carson City to Bodie, 1877
December 4	-	Bodie's Standard Co. declares dividend of $1/share, 1877 - the gold boom officially begins in Bodie
December 22	-	Bodie Miners Union formed, 1877

1878
January 15	-	Bodie Miners Union elects officers for the first time, 1878.
February 2	-	Commencement of state service 3 times a day between Bodie and Aurora, once daily to Bridgeport.
February 2	-	Stage service three times a day between Bodie and Aurora, once daily to Bridgeport commences, 1878
May 11	-	The "Standard Journal" newspaper is first printed, 1878.
June 1	-	Bodie Mining Co. makes rich strike, 1878 - stocks soar from .50 cents to $50 a share almost overnight
June 28	-	Miners' Union Hall completed, 1878.
August 5	-	First daily mail service, 1878.
August 10	-	Mono County Bank organized, 1878.
August 15	-	The Bank of Bodie is organized, 1878.
August 17	-	Harvey Boone arrives in Bodie, 1878.
September 25	-	A shower prototype displayed at Gilson & Barber's store in Bodie, 1878 - the population is 3,000.
December 6	-	The Grass Valley Union newspaper reports population in Bodie at 5,000 in 1878.

1879
December	-	First brick building built.
December	-	Bodie reaches an estimated 10 to 12 thousand people.
January 5	-	United States Land Office established.
June 10	-	First load of ore pulls on the scales at 10,000 lbs. Every piece show gold, 1879.
June 17	-	People flock to Bodie via stage, wagon, horseback or on foot as the gold boom begins, 1879.
July 1	-	Newspapers boast Bodie has seven barbershops, 1879.
July 8	-	The Giant Powder Co. magazine explodes, 1879 - several men are reported to be vaporized in the explosion.
July 11	-	Bodie Opera House hosts musicians Bobby McGinley & Mrs. Brierly, 1879.
September 6	-	First "Daily Free Press" newspaper is printed, 1879.
October 1	-	Patrick Reddy, noted criminal attorney, settles in Bodie, 1879.
October 26	-	W. S. Bodey is exhumed for reburial celebration, 1879.
November 25	-	Silas Smith's other store open in Bodie, 1879.
December 27	-	Noonday Mill goes into production in Bodie, 1879.

1880
January 24	-	Fire hydrant system completed to protect Bodie from fire.

1881
January 5	-	Bodie & Benton Railroad track climbs 2,000 ft. in 10 miles, carries Mono Mills total production of 100,000 cords of wood/year, 1881.
January 14	-	Mono County Bank in Bodie closes it's doors.
January 14	-	Joseph de Roche is lynched by the 601Vigilante group for shooting Johnny Trealor in the back, 1881.
February 19	-	Bodie Railway and Lumber Company organized, 1881.
June 6	-	Newspapers report the town becoming a resort with no killing in the past week, 1881.
July 2	-	President James Garfield assassinated, 1881 - a monument to him can be found in Bodie's cemetery yet he is NOT buried there
November 8	-	First Bodie Railway & Lumber Company train arrives in Bodie, 1881.

1882
May 9	-	The "Bodie Evening Miner" newspaper is first printed, 1882.
September 15	-	First gathering in the Methodist Church.

1886
January 14	-	Mono County Bank in Bodie closes, 1886
May 28	-	E.W. Fleniken begins regular semi-monthly trips to Bodie with farm produce, eggs and butter, 1886

1890
October 2	-	James Cain buys The Bodie Bank, 1890.

1892
July 25	-	First of two major fires destroy a large part of Bodie.
November	-	Standard Mill becomes first mill to be 'electrified'.

1895
November	-	Cyanide leaching process comes to Bodie, 1895.

1898
October 6	-	The Standard Mill burns down.

1899
February 1	-	Standard Mill re-opens after the fire, 1899.

1908
December 23	-	Mono Railway Co. and Mono Lake Lumber Co. separate their interests, 1908

1910
December 25	-	Electric power transmitted for the first time in Bodie by Hydro Electric Co., 1910

1911
March 11	-	Avalanche destroys the Mill Creek power plant, 1911.

1917
September 7	-	Mono Railway abandoned, sells for scrap, 1917

1932
June 23	-	Second of two major fires destroys all but what is now left in Bodie, 1932.
September 4	-	U.S. Post Office in Bodie is moved to the Lottie Johl house, 1932

1941
August 10	-	Bronze bell in the firehouse belfry is stolen.
September 28	-	Bronze bell in the firehouse belfry is recovered.

1961
July 4	-	Bodie Historic District is so named by the National Park Service
July 4	-	Bodie listed as National Historic Landmark, 1961

1964
September 12	-	Bodie State Historic Park is dedicated by the California State Park Commission, 1964.
